A Place for Stories, Discovery and Learning
Welcome to the Learning Hub, Catherine McAuley’s library and a flexible space designed for learning, collaboration and connection.
While the library sits at the heart of the Learning Hub, the area has been designed to be much more than somewhere students simply come to borrow a book. It will be an active learning environment where students can read, research, explore ideas, work together and learn in different ways.
Building a Love of Reading
Reading is at the heart of learning, and the Learning Hub will give students access to a growing collection of books and resources to support both their learning and individual interests.
From discovering a favourite picture book in Kindergarten to researching a topic or finding a new author in the older years, we want this to be a space students are excited to visit.
It will also provide opportunities for reading to become part of the wider life of the school, with the potential for activities such as book clubs and other small-group experiences.
Spaces for Different Ways of Learning
Connected to the Learning Hub are two breakout rooms, giving students and teachers additional spaces that can be used throughout the school day.
One is designed as a classroom-sized space, allowing a full class or larger group to work together, while the smaller breakout room provides a more intimate setting for small-group learning, collaboration and focused activities.
These spaces give teachers greater flexibility to respond to how students are learning – whether that means working together as a class, breaking into smaller groups or providing a quieter space for particular activities.
Taking Learning Outdoors
The Learning Hub also extends beyond the building, with two outdoor classroom spaces providing another environment for students to learn, read and connect.
These spaces can be used for lessons and learning activities during the school day, while also creating additional places students may enjoy during break times.
They also open up opportunities for activities such as book clubs, reading groups and other experiences that allow students to enjoy learning in a more relaxed outdoor setting.
Together, the library, breakout rooms and outdoor classrooms make the Learning Hub a flexible part of the school – a place for stories and research, but also for collaboration, curiosity, connection and discovery.
