Kindergarten Block

A Place to Begin, Explore and Grow

The Kindergarten block at Catherine McAuley has been thoughtfully designed to give our youngest students a welcoming environment where they can learn, play and grow together.

The block includes three Kindergarten classrooms, each providing its own dedicated learning environment while also being designed to connect with the rooms alongside it. The spaces can be opened up for shared learning and collaboration between classes or closed off when students need a more focused classroom environment.

This flexibility gives our Kindergarten teachers opportunities to work together across the grade, while still creating that important sense of belonging within each child’s own class.

Learning Indoors and Out

Alongside the main classrooms are dedicated breakout rooms, giving teachers and students smaller spaces that can be used throughout the day for small-group learning, individual support, extension activities or simply when a different learning environment is needed.

Each Kindergarten classroom has its own outdoor teaching space, extending learning beyond the classroom and giving teachers another environment for exploration, play and hands-on activities throughout the day.

Inside, each room is equipped with two interactive smart boards, supporting different ways of teaching, presenting and engaging students in their learning.

Each classroom also has access to its own bathroom facilities, creating a self-contained Kindergarten environment designed specifically with the needs and independence of our youngest students in mind.

Together, the three rooms create a connected Kindergarten community, giving children their own space to feel settled and secure, while opening the door to shared experiences, friendships and learning across the whole grade.
