Principal Welcome

Welcome to Catherine McAuley Primary School, Medowie.

It is a joy and a privilege to serve as the Foundation Principal of Catherine McAuley Primary School as we prepare to open our doors for the very first time in Term 1, 2027. Behind the scenes, work is underway as we shape a vibrant Mercy community inspired by the life and vision of Catherine McAuley and the enduring ministry of the Sisters of Mercy. Guided by their example, my commitment is to help create a school where every child, staff member, and family is known, valued, included, and supported.

Throughout 2026, I look forward to walking alongside families as we prepare for this exciting new chapter – ensuring our school opens as a place of welcome, joy, connection, and opportunity. Whether you are following our progress, wanting to join our community, or simply wanting to learn more, I invite you to stay connected by joining our Expression of Interest list, located on the home page of our website. Updates and milestones will be shared regularly with interested families throughout the year as we bring Catherine McAuley Primary School to life.

The virtual tour, available on our website, showcases the impressive and purpose-built facilities designed to support contemporary and collaborative teaching and learning. A school which has been intentionally designed to educate the whole child. Each classroom will include internal and external breakout rooms to support small-group instruction, targeted intervention, and differentiated learning. Within each stage POD, additional shared learning spaces will be available providing opportunities for hands-on inquiry learning in STEM and Creative Arts. In addition to this a very impressive Learning Hub has been designed to feed off the library with a purpose-built classroom and outdoor learning space to inspire curiosity, foster a love of learning, and support ongoing personalised learning.

As an Educator and a Leader, the facilities are very impressive, creating not only a climate conducive to learning, but an environment where collaborative teaching and learning is promoted through interconnected classrooms and learning spaces. Every element of the design reflects our commitment to nurturing students academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. This continues beyond the classroom where a number of outdoor learning environments have been designed to encourage exploration, creativity, physical activity, and connection to the natural world.

As part of a seamless educational pathway from St Nicholas Early Education through to Catherine McAuley Catholic College, our school will join a precinct that will offer families a connected and faith-filled journey from early childhood through to Secondary Schooling.

We warmly welcome families of all backgrounds who value academic excellence and our Catholic ethos. Together with our families, we will strive to support children to grow as confident and reflective learners – young people ready to contribute with courage, compassion, respect, and love to the world around them.

Together, let us Prepare to Walk in Mercy.
